A Favorite year-round Tonic

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), these “kingly” herbs combine to create a formula that enhance and stabilize normal body functions. Each herb boosts the beneficial actions of the other two, and all three are considered primary adaptogens, herbs that balance and promote the body’s ability to adapt and respond to stressors, such as over-exertion, mental anxiety and external factors such as noise pollution. Another way of putting it would be to say that adaptogen herbs help lower heart rate, for example, if it is elevated, or raise heart rate if it is diminished; if there is no imbalance, the herbs activity enhances everything that is going well. There are no known toxicity levels with these herbs if used according to dosing recommendations.

Schisandra vine with ripe berries

These herbs, singularly and in combination, invigorate “chi” or “prana”, which can be loosely defined as the life force that makes us living, breathing individuals. This numinous definition becomes more relevant put in physical terms. Adaptogen herbs, and this combination in particular, help normalize cortisol production; regulate blood sugar levels; protect the liver from external invaders such as chemical or radiation residues; eliminate metabolic waste; and protect cells from oxidation, including DNA damage. Our Adaptogen Compound is used to enhance mental and physical performance, improve memory and brain function, and normalize cardiac activity. Adaptogen herbs in general also improve physical as well as mental performance and recovery.

Rhodiola, also known as “roseroot” because of its aroma

Schisandra is an excellent tonic and restorative, is anti-oxidant, helps protect neural tissue and mitochondria, reduces liver enzyme levels and is useful for treating Hepatitis C.

Rhodiola is also an immune system tonic, is specific for chronic fatigue, and is neuro-protective and regenerative.
